Overview Duluth,
Minnesota is an international seaport overlooking majestic Lake Superior. The
breathtaking scenery features miles of magnificent shoreline and forests. The natural
beauty of the region is only one of the many reasons why Duluth is such a great place to
live. The people of Duluth are what make the city stand out from others in the country.
Few metropolitan cities have the strong sense of community so apparent in Duluth. The
concern for growth and prosperity is what contributes to the high quality of life in the
area. There are also many rare recreational opportunities available in Duluth including
sailing and charter boat fishing. Few places in America can match the rewards offered by
living in Duluth, sometimes referred to as the "Zenith City".
Duluth
is located at the southwestern tip of Lake Superior. Approximately 2,350 miles of
freshwater lakes and rivers separate Duluth from the Atlantic Ocean. The area is often
called the Arrowhead Region because the western portion of Lake Superior resembles the tip
of an arrow. The altitude of Duluth ranges from 605 to 1,485 feet above sea level, and the
city occupies 43,067 acres of land. Duluth is approximately 150 miles north of
Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota. All of these cities are connected by Interstate 35.
